Ed Keane Associates was founded by Ed Keane in 1996 in Boston, Massachusetts, where Ed has been a life-long resident. Although Ed graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Biochemistry, music remained a creative passion. He founded the company to develop his growing interest in the field of artist management and project development after working as an agent for seven years in the talent booking field at Ted Kurland Associates.
Renowned Grammy-nominated banjoist and fellow Harvard alum Alison Brown and celebrated drummer, bandleader, educator T. S. Monk were the first artists to become clients at Ed Keane Associates. Through his production and management activities, gifted artists in the genres of jazz, classical, and blues were attracted to the agency including legendary composer/conductor/performer David Amram (who composed the music for such classic films as The Manchurian Candidate and Splendor In The Grass), three-time Grammy- nominated vocalist Nnenna Freelon, legendary alto saxophonist Jackie McLean, and rising star blues/pop singer-songwriter John McAndrew, among others.
