Rebecca Parris is indeed an institution in the Greater Boston area and is known as "Boston's First Lady of Jazz" in the clubs and concert halls. But, she is also highly-regarded throughout the globe and has been touted by many prestigious publications. "Her voice, a rich contralto with a baritone resonance, is so commanding that when a song’s attitude is combative, she can scare you. But when the mood is playful, she can also enfold you in a musical bear hug." stated Stephen Holden in a 2007 review for the New York Times in 2007. In 2008, Parris appeared with the great Marian McPartland on Piano Jazz and her CDs are often played throughout Europe as well.
