Trio I:
In Cambridge and Boston and all of New England and beyond, Charlie Kohlhase, internationally recognized, is that Jazz iconic figure: a seasoned leader, composer, multi-saxophonist, educator, and radio host (WMBR-FM)—a world class musician and traveler—with endless ideas and music about and arrangements of modern Jazz’s history; AND, an extensive repertoire of his own compositions, often incorporating the mainstream with the free-form into a seamless journey; not to mention the gifted young and other seasoned musicians he has associated himself for more than 30 years including this evening.

Devin Drobka (drums) (From New York) but a native of Milwaukee, a member the “Sons of Daughters”, a spirited and vivid Boston-New York jazz trio, has been playing drums for the past 21 years.

Aaron Darrell (bass) was born in Selma, Alabama in 1987, is also a part of the “Sons of Daughters”, a spirited and vivid Boston-New York jazz trio

Pocket Aces (Trio II): The Pocket Aces brings together three distinctive voices from Boston’s vital jazz and improvised music scene. Frequent collaborators in numerous larger groups, this guitar/bass/drums trio is an ideal setting to stretch out:

Eric Hofbauer (guitar) has been an integral member of Boston’s jazz scene as a musician, bandleader, organizer and educator for the past fifteen years.

Curt Newton (drums) coaxes whispers from drum sets and swing from old tin cans, weaving various musical traditions together in the spirit of serious playfulness. Over the past two decades he’s performed across the U.S., Canada and Europe and recorded over 20 CDs
