Never Been to Spain & The Secondary Messengers

NEVER BEEN TO SPAIN featuring vocals by Frances Rahaim with Eric Weld on piano, Dominic Poccia on sax and clarinet and David Elvin on upright bass. This eclectic group will be performing their jazz standards and blues at the Arts Block on March 3rd, 2017.

Frances resides in Montague, began performing at age 12 and was well known locally as vocalist and guitarist in the group "Soft Touch" and with many other local bands. She returns to the stage after a long hiatus with a new group and fresh material. Eric, from Amherst, recently relocated to Easthampton, performs solo in a variety of venues, and with various ensembles including the New England Jazz Quintet. David hails from Hadley, and is also the bassist with the band Bok Choy. Dominic lives in Northampton and plays with the Amherst Jazz Orchestra, Jeff Holmes Big Band, Creacion Latin Big Band and the Secondary Messengers....

SECONDARY MESSENGERS is an instrumental quintet. Featuring music composed by former members of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers such as Horace Silver, Kenny Dorham, Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan and others. Band members include Dave Bilodeau on trumpet, Dominic Poccia on baritone sax, Mike Stamm on piano, David Elvin on bass and Bill Mathews on drums. The group has performed locally at the 121 Club, Luthier's, the Thirsty Mind Coffee and Wine Bar and Amherst College.
