About
The Roots of Brazilian Music series focuses on lesser-heard, acoustic Brazilian sounds: the instrumental virtuosity of Choro, sometimes refered to as a "brazilian ragtime", but featuring improvisation, like jazz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3MScY99wco , the infectious pulse and joyful/plaintive/humorous lyrics of traditional small-group samba, that, like jazz, has roots in African music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g8-hvmjjOY
The March 13 concert will feature two groups: A choro and samba ensemble led by 7-string guitarist Ricardo Borsato Faria (7:15-8:30) with singer Luiza Giardello, and a group led by multi-instrumentalist Eduardo Mercuri (8:45-9:45) guest vocalists will include Anna Borges and Bill Ward (of Receita de Samba) Admission$10 includes both shows To be informed of other Brazilian and Jazz events in the Boston area, follow Big Name Jazz Productions on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Big-Name-Jazz-Productions-158147664783244/
